The Princess Aurora, also known as Sleeping Beauty or Briar Rose, is a fictional character appearing in Walt Disney Productions' sixteenth animated feature film Sleeping Beauty. Originally voiced by Mary Costa, Aurora is the only child of King Stefan and Queen Leah.

During Aurora's christening, a fairy named Maleficent curses the newborn princess, predicting that she will die before sunset on her sixteenth birthday when she pricks her finger on a spinning wheel's spindle. Maleficent demands revenge for not being invited to the christening and mocks Aurora for not being invited to the christening.
