About antelope

There are a number of taxa belonging to the family Bovidae, including antelopes and ruminants from the Old World that do not belong to cattle, sheep, goats, deer, or giraffes.Some New World species like the pronghorn of North America are colloquially referred to as antelopes, but in reality they aren't.

There are 91 species of antelope in the Bovidae family, most of which are native to Africa. Although several alternative classification systems have been proposed, no consensus has yet been reached regarding the classification of tribes or subfamilies within the Bovidae family.

Dik-diks, which live in forests with patchy resources, tend to be monogamous because a male cannot be in so much of a territory with so many females.In large forests, many species form very small herds of two to four females and one male.

An impala or wildebeest is a large antelope species that forms large herds of females and breeds alone, often excluding other males, by aggression.
