Some information about Apricot

Usually, an apricot can be identified as a fruit of the species Prunus armeniaca, but the fruits of the other species of Prunus sect. Armeniaca are also referred to as apricots.

The Armenian national fruit, the apricot, grows mostly in the Ararat plain and occurs on many souvenirs.

Early English users of apricot were known as abrecock or later as albricoque, both of which came from Middle French aubercot.

a 100-gram serving of raw apricots provides 48 calories and consists of 11% carbohydrates, 1% protein, less than 1% fat, and 86% water (table). Raw apricots are a moderate supply of vitamins A and C (12 % each).

As of 2019, the world produced 4.1 million tonnes of apricots (table). Turkey produced 21%, with Uzbekistan, Iran, Italy, and Algeria contributing more than 8% each (vs. descending order).
